”Both safety and quality is highly important in our freight operations [...] This is a simple way of making the information available to drivers who were previously difficult to reach. The result is quality-assured logistics with on time deliveries and minimal risk of damage.”
SCA Logistics had trouble delivering information to truck drivers to ensure that their goods was loaded correctly and time-efficiently. They also had challenges with truck drivers of many nationalities lacking language skills, which significantly complicated the communication.
LUP reviewed and edited the existing on-site loading routines. The site's safety and loading instructions were then communicated through a LUP number.
SCA Logistics now has all the information that truck drivers need collected in a LUP number. With this LUP number they can send information in advance to the transport companies and in case of language problems they can communicate via the LUP number.
About SCASCA is a leading global forestry company and SCA Logistics provides comprehensive sea and land transportation within Europe and other global markets. SCA Logistics Sundsvall strives for safety and efficiency in its logistical flows.
”At Södra Cell Mönsterås, we really try to make every part of our business safe and efficient. Previously, we had repeated problems that truck drivers did not behave in accordance with our safety rules. Previously, we had printed instructions for drivers to read, but many had trouble understanding the instructions. We decided to install LUPNUMBER. We send our LUP number to the transport companies and we use the check-in system where drivers check in on a computer and go through a safety review. It took us a month or so to get started with the system and now it works very well. We are very pleased with LUP Technologies as they engage with us in a committed way to solve our problems.”
Södra Cell wanted to make it easier for drivers to access safety information and ensure that they had reviewed the safety rules before working on-site. They also wanted to increase their compliance with health and safety regulation and streamline the reception of trucks.
LUP reviewed and updated the routines and safety rules on the site and made them easy-to-understand for the drivers. LUP delivered and installed a customized truck driver check-in system.
On site at the front desk there are now two check-in terminals where truck drivers of many different nationalities can get to know the loading routines in their own language. This ensures that drivers have read the instructions and approved that they have understood them.

”We want the truck handling to be as smooth as possible. If we are increasing our volumes as planned I need to know that everything is working. The transports are extremely important for our business. And of course I want us to follow all laws and regulations.”
Balco was to expand its production and had to standardize and develop its loading routines. In addition, they needed language support to handle a growing number of foreign drivers to ensure that their information could be understood. The objective was clear: minimize the risk of workplace accidents while simultaneously improving the handling of cargo.
LUP helped Balco to develop a standard for how loading should be done so that they could handle a larger capacity. For this, a careful mapping of the existing routines was needed to identify what was missing and identify the risks during handling of cargo.
Balco now has a LUP number with clear instructions available in several languages. In addition, the on-site routines have been updated and have become more efficient to provide a higher loading capacity without the need for investments in the form of staff or new terminals.
